Allison partners with Yutong in a large export of buses, a prime example of how Chinese-made vehicles are successfully entering international markets.
BEIJING，China, 21th of October 2013 – The successful export of buses from Yutong Bus Company to Venezuela has garnered attention from China's bus industry. More than 1,000 of these buses are equipped with Allison full automatic transmissions. Models delivered are primarily CNG powered buses, helping to improve urban air quality and reduce exhaust emissions. Venezuela has considerable natural gas reserves, a feature heavily promoted by the government because of the clean energy’s low cost. This has created a climate favorable to government support of the country’s abundant green energy.“Allison fully-automatic transmissions are really the best match for vehicles equipped with" "natural gas engines,” said Steven Chew, Managing Director for Allison Transmission in China. “CNG/LNG engines tend to have less power compared with diesel, but Allison Continuous Power Technology™ offers both engine torque multiplication and uninterrupted power to the drive wheels, solving the problem of delayed response to acceleration and resulting in" "smoother, seamless operation to maximize performance.“
Allison’s patented hydraulic converter multiplies engine torque, improving startability and "minimizing shock to the vehicle’s entire driveline. Allison transmission models are also available with an output retarder, which enhances overall vehicle braking by making up for the limited engine braking available from a natural gas engine.
With rapid economic development in many South American countries, customer demands continue to increase, creating demand for higher-end models such as Yutong buses imported from China. Allison has collaborated with Yutong Group since 2005 and continues to work closely with Yutong in many overseas bus and coach markets. Allison-equipped Yutong buses not only appear in South America, but also in South Africa, Asia, Russia and Australia, among other locations.
Last year, China exported 420,840 commercial vehicles, an increase of almost 13 percent year-on-year. Yutong exported over 5000 mid- and large-range buses in the same year, a 36 percent increase year-on-year, positioning Yutong as the largest Chinese bus exporter.
In recent years, Chinese OEMs have focused on increasing value and selecting leading components to boost vehicle performance and brand recognition, which has resulted in increased bus exports. Allison Transmission is helping to improve the performance and competitiveness of China’s exported vehicles, serving as a reliable partner in support of overseas market development.
